The automated SKOOT - Corrosion Mapping Scanner is a powerful scanner with the ability to perform complex corrosion inspection while traversing all types of magnetic surfaces. Remote operation combined with one of any 4 lengths of raster arm ensure the SKOOT is the leader of automated two-axis corrosion scans.

Features

Low Profile

The SKOOT requires a radial clearance of 11.4 cm (4.5 in), which allows for inspection in limited access applications.

Raster Arms

Available in 4 different lengths, the sophisticated raster arm delivers precision corrosion results. Program custom scan paths, intervals, speed and more for readings which are repeatable and highly configurable.

Magnetic Wheels

Using rare-earth magnets, the SKOOT can operate on vertical, horizontal and inverted surfaces.

Scan Versatility

The SKOOT can facilitate circumferential scans on pipes as small as 6.4 cm (2.5 in) OD and 68.6 cm (27 in) ID. In addition, flat surface scans and longitudinal scanning on pipes as small as 76.2 cm (30 in) OD are available. 

Backpack

The optional backpack conveniently carries ultrasonic accessories with the unit.

Handheld Controller

Program raster paths from up to 30 m (100 ft) away using the intuitive handheld remote control. The ergonomic handheld controller programs probe speed, intervals and so much more.

Warranty

All components of the SKOOT system are backed by a 3-year warranty.

Component ID

Base Crawler

Four highly magnetic wheels propel the SKOOT crawler along ferrous surfaces. Attach a multitude of weld and corrosion scanning accessories to the crawler which features cable management and integrated encoder.

Backpack

A flexible strap securely holds any pre-amp, splitters or scan accessories to the SKOOT crawler.

Manipulation Handle

Slight steering adjustments and crawler manipulation are achieved using the manipulation handle.

Power Controller

Configurable for North American or European electrical standards, the power controller is a sophisticated operating platform and connection point for instrumentation and handheld controllers.

Handheld Controller

Precision forward and reverse drive control, programmable y-axis control and system diagnostics are all accessed using handheld controller's touchscreen and joysticks.

The ability to carry multiple attachments and various accessories while traversing all types of magnetic surfaces make the SKOOT an extremely versatile scanning device. This remotely operated scanning platform can be outfitted with probe holder frames for weld inspection or a raster arm for automated two-axis corrosion scans.

The Motorized Raster Arm adds two-axis automated scan capabilities to the NAVIC and SKOOT systems

The Motorized Raster Arm, available 300 mm (12 in), 600 mm (24 in), 900 mm (35 in), and 1160 mm (46 in) lengths, can carry many different probes for various types of corrosion scans, including conventional 0 transducers, phased array probes (HydroFORM, DLA/DMA, 5L64, etc.), and more.

The handheld controller included with the NAVIC and SKOOT is used to setup all parameters of the scan (speed, index, stroke, etc.).

Heavy Duty Vertical Probe Holder

The PHS043 - Heavy Duty Vertical Probe Holder is designed to carry larger probes, such as the Olympus HydroFORM. It can also be used with a variety of probe/wedge combinations with a larger footprint (i.e. corrosion inspection probes), which may require more downforce applied during an inspection.

The heavy duty vertical probe holder is compatible with the raster arm and the ROTIX/STIX corrosion scanners and can be ordered with either a standard 8.28 cm (3.26 in) yoke or a wide 12.16 cm (4.79 in) yoke.
