Component Identification

Base Crawler

The powerful base crawler carries probe holder frames, raster arms and a multitude of accessories for the purposes of weld and corrosion inspection.

Integrated Encoder

A spring-loaded encoder maintains surface contact on all various scan surface diameters. 

Magnetic Wheels

Powerful magnetic wheels ensure the crawler remains fixed to any ferrous surface.

Power Controller

Compatible with both North American and European power sources, the power controller connects the user instrument and handheld controller to the base crawler.

Umbilical

The backbone of communication between the power controller and the base crawler.

Handheld Controller

Containing the NAVIC operating system, the handheld controller joysticks control speed and steering of the base crawler while the intuitive touchscreen allows for more intricate raster path and drive programming.

The NAVIC 2 - Base Crawler is a modular, motorized, steerable scanner designed to carry multiple attachments used in various scanning and inspection applications. This remotely operated scanning platform is capable of circumferential scans on diameters as small as 70 mm (2.75 in) OD.

Preserve the life of a probe by raising it from the scan surface during transit from various inspection locations. The Actuated Probe Lift allows a NAVIC crawler to raise and lower a corrosion thickness probe holder to avoid obstacles and large welds, all while being controlled remotely from the handheld controller. Available with a 19 mm (0.75 in) receptacle (compatible with an Olympus D790) and a choice of flat or curved wear plate.

UT Cable

The Automated Crawler Medium Temperature Add-On Kit includes an installation/removal mat and a 4.5 m (14.8 ft) cable management system which are designed for use beyond the standard 50°C (122°F). Combine this kit with any existing NAVIC or SKOOT system and operate with confidence on medium heat inspection surfaces up to a maximum temperature of 150°C (302°F).
